Perdoar 1

A great king once suffered much at the hands of a few rebels.  But one day the whole band of rebels surrendered their weapons, threw themselves at the king’s feet, and begged for mercy.  The king was so moved by their contrition that he pardoned the whole bunch, and sent them home to their families.

As the rebels hurried out of the king’s court, a counselor to the king said, “Sire, were you not heard to say every rebellious enemy of this kingdom will die”?  The king answered, “Yes, I said that.  But I see no enemies departing.  I see only friends.”
