Screen-Shot-2014-02-10-at-11.18.24-AM1Just a Thought: The word “religion” comes from the Latin “religare” which means “to bind.” In the best sense of the word, religion is meant to bind us, not to rules, regulations, and theories, but to something – or better, to Someone – who calls us to something greater than ourselves. That calling binds us to a higher purpose by which we live our lives through our words, actions, and attitudes. Religion, when it is true to itself, turns our eyes, first, inward, looking at our own weakness and faults; then, secondly, outward not to judge others, but to see how we may model our “binding” in such a way that it becomes an attractive style of life.
